Straight Thru
Straight Through to RAM Training
In recent years the Navy has gotten on board with the idea that young physicians do not always enjoy spending two years after completing med school and internship bouncing around the fleet at the whim of the Navy detailer. Although that path is excellent for those who want more time to figure out their lives, having a straight-through option makes sense for many. Going straight through is a great plan if you are goal-oriented and want to be board-certified up front! Note that opportunities for straight through training may vary year to year depending on Navy quotas.
Example Timeline
This is an example of a typical timeline for an HPSP graduate who goes directly into RAM training after their internship year. In this example, medical school started in the summer of 2017.
